Eternally Yours arose during the pandemic. I had just moved to the Texas Hill Country in January of 2020 and was far away from family and deeply rooted friendships. The undercurrent of the collective unknown was destabilizing, and everyone’s fractures-including my own-were palpable. I was untethered and scared, confronting literal and metaphorical deaths, alone. I found solace in being with all those who had loved and been loved over time. I imagined myself in each of the graves and thought about what I would be leaving behind- the shadows a haunting reminder to honor the present. The tombstones resurrected so much, allowing me to grieve things I had long buried. I died a thousand times in that cemetery and it comforted me, revealing a deeper reverence for our sacred land and its people.
